Steak 101 is divided into 3 segments:
1: Meat Industry Discussion
2: The Beef Carcass and Steak Cuts
3: Grilling & Sampling!
You’ll get the inside story about beef; certification programs, meat grading, cattle raising, grilling, and much more. Be ready to pull back the curtain and take a look at the engine that drives our current commercial food industry.
Learn about the difference between Wagyu vs. Angus, naturally-raised vs. grass-fed, and rare vs. ruined…Visit the cutting room to see what makes each steak special, and then enjoy a delicious tasting of 17+ fine beef cuts, including grass-fed, Wagyu and 100% Angus; housemade sausage, ribeyes, filet, our signature McKinney steak and more! At the end of our 3 hour adventure, you’ll be a bona fide Steakologist!
Our popular Steak 101 class makes a great gift for your favorite carnivore, and is a wonderful way to start off a visit to historic McKinney’s old town square.
Most Saturdays in March – July and September – November, plus some weeknights. We take a heat hiatus in August. Winter classes are opened and posted if weather is favorable. We typically open classes a month in advance more or less, depending on how quickly current classes fill. Click on the signup button to check our current schedule.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Class is 2.5 – 3 hours, depending on how inquisitive your group is. The class is held outdoors, under the patio, at our market, so dress appropriately for the day’s weather. A portion of the class takes place behind-the-scenes in a refrigerated area, so closed-toe shoes are a must. For those who like to stay warm, bring a light jacket, but often is a nice reprieve from the heat! There’s plenty of room to spread out, so join us for appropriately distanced outdoor fun!
Regular cost of Steak 101 Class is $75 per person or $400 per table, with a maximum of 6 guests per table. Payment can be made online, if you are using a Living Social, Groupon or Local Yocal gift card or voucher type the word VOUCHER in the Promo/Voucher/Gift Card box at check out. If you purchased a voucher via AmazonLocal, Living Social or Groupon, please present it on the day of class.
NEED TO CANCEL?
We are glad to reschedule you for another class, but please provide at least two days notice. A $30 rescheduling fee applies if you do not adhere to this policy and no shows will result in forfeiture of fee or voucher. Thank you for understanding — we are a small business and have to plan accordingly for staffing and supplies ahead of time. We look forward to meeting you!
